Wasco man arrested on Saturday for weapons violations

A Wasco man was arrested on Saturday, September 22 for weapons violations after a Wasco Substation deputy conducted a traffic stop near 1500 G Street.

According to deputies, the driver of the vehicle was identified as 23-year-old Jose Antonio Lopez. Deputies said they saw several open beer cans inside the vehicle when the stop was conducted and had determined Lopez had been drinking. After searching the driver, deputies said they located a methamphetamine smoking pipe and one live .22 caliber round on his person.

After searching his vehicle, deputies said they located a 12-gauge shotgun, .22 caliber rifle and over 100 rounds of live ammunition.

Lopez was subsequently arrested and booked for possessing a firearm while under the influence of a controlled substance, carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle, carrying a loaded firearm and various CVC violations.
