According to the Kern County Sheriff's Department, Wasco prison inmate Augustin Duran was killed after being assaulted by another inmate earlier this month. 

On Saturday July 7, KCSO says 66-year-old Duran was taken to the hospital for his injuries. Hospital officials pronounced him dead the following day, noting his cause of death was due to a blunt head trauma.
