BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Wasco Sheriffs Activities League and Bakersfield Sheriffs Activities League are praising five kids from the program for their brave actions over the weekend.

On Saturday around 2:30 p.m., during the group's trip to Wild Water Adventures in Clovis a young girl was struggling to stay above water and called for help, according to KCSO.

The Wasco SAL kids reportedly heard the girl and began yelling for help to lifeguards in the area.

According to officials, Deputy Willis heard the Wasco kids and noticed the young girl in distress. The Wasco SAL group of five reportedly held the girl above the water until Deputy Willis arrived and took her to a rescue ladder near the lifeguard tower.

In a news release, KCSO said it is very proud of the Wasco SAL group which includes: Hailey Medrano, Jaime Fernandez, Leila Adams, Hailey Adams and Monique Rodriguez. All five will be honored at the Wasco City Hall meeting on September 3 at 6 p.m.
