On October 23, 2015, Kern County Sheriff’s deputies from the Wasco Substation and detectives from the Sheriff’s Office Sexual Assault and Abuse Investigations Unit began an investigation into a report of an inappropriate relationship between a student and teacher at Wasco Union High School.

During the three month investigation, deputies developed probable cause to obtain an arrest warrant for 45 year old Alvaro Luna.

On January 24th, 2016, Luna was arrested at his home in Arvin for using an underage person to produce obscene matter, distributing obscene matter depicting a minor under 18 years of age, lewd or lascivious acts with a child 14/15 years of age, and possession of obscene matter depicting a minor in sexual acts.

Luna was booked into the Sheriff’s Office Central Receiving Facility. His bail has been set at $200,000.
