The Houchin Community Blood Bank is hosting and recognizing the 16th annual anniversary of September 11, 2017 with a Week of Remembrance Blood Drive.

The annual blood drive serves to recognize all of the first responders who serve everyday. The drive also serves to recognize all of those who have donated blood, platelet, and plasma donors who ensure what's needed is ready to save lives.

The Bakersfield Donor Centers will be opened during regular hours and there will also be two mobile locations in Bakersfield. The first mobile drive will be at the Kern County Fire training facility.

There are also mobile drives in Tehachapi, Delano and Arvin.

The most needed blood types at the moment are O-, O+, A-. Houchin Community Blood Bank also says AB plasma is extremely low.
