"Westworld" wraps filming of scenes near Ridgecrest

Posted

Some scenes for season two of the critically-acclaimed "Westworld" were shot near Ridgecrest on Monday and Tuesday.

The shoot, which took place just outside Kern County at the Trona Pinnacles, attracted the attention of hundreds of people vying to be extras in HBO's hit show.

The Ridgecrest Film Commission says "at least a thousand" shoots have taken place in the Ridgecrest area for films, television shows and commercials. Those shoots include scenes from Jurassic Park and Iron Man.

The commission also said the shoots are beneficial to the city of Ridgecrest; production crews will often shop at local stores and rent from local companies.

"Westworld" returns to HBO in Spring 2018.
