Bakersfield's Halloween Pub Crawl

Time: 5:30 p.m. - 10 p.m.

Location: Downtown Bakersfield

Price: $12 online

The time to eat drink and be scary is upon us at Bakersfield's Halloween Pub Crawl. Everyone will be getting sheet faced because costumes are encouraged and prize(s) will be awarded! We have wicked good specials on boo-ze and food!

At Bakersfield's Halloween Pub Crawl you will get drink specials and no cover charge with your wristband at all locations. Enjoy great food specials with participating vendors. There will also be contests, games, a raffle, prizes, and different atmospheres at all locations.

A Night of SPOOKY Fun for the whole family! Small groups will be guided through the dark and dimly lit museum areas where spooky things are bound to happen!

Kern Wheelman 32nd Annual Spooktacular Ride

Time: All day

Location: Lake Ming Kern River Group Picnic area 

  • From Hwy. 99, go east on HWY 58 to Comanche Drive. Turn Left (North) on Comanche Drive. Comanche Drive turns into Alfred Harrell Highway. Continue to stop sign (Lake Ming road) turn right and follow the Spooktacular signs.

Price: $30 - $85 online

Kern Wheelman is sponsoring their 32nd annual Spooktacular Ride for cyclists at all levels. Registration includes six routes to choose from, one raffle entry, Halloween pie, rest stops, marked routes, maps, and goodie bag. Every participant will also enjoy a BBQ meal catered by Salty's, receive a time chip, and medal. Riders who make it to the top of Breckenridge will receive a commemorative patch.

  • Hideous Hundred - 10,800 feet of climbing - 109 miles. Bring your big gears and an attitude. This ride up Breckenridge Mountain will Haunt you for a long time and the decent will give you Chills. Your special Hideous Hundred patch will be waiting for you at the top. Difficulty-Extreme, Suggested ride start at 6:00am.
  • Horrible Hundred- 8,600 feet of climbing - 102 miles. You had better still bring those big gears; Lion's Trail and White Wolf grade are each 5 1/2 miles long and have grades of 6-8% that will make your quads Scream with Pain. Difficulty-Extreme, Start Before 6:00am.
  • Nightmare Ninety- 4,500 feet of climbing - 92 miles. Actually after the White Wolf Grade some of this course will leave you with pleasant dreams as you ride up Caliente Creek to Twin Oaks and back. Start Before 7:00am.
  • Morbid Metric- 2,900 feet of climbing - 62 miles. With a Monster climb of its own White Wolf grade will get your lungs Howling. Your destination is Caliente where you will meet the riders from the Hideous and Horrible Hundreds & Nightmare Ninety. Start Before 8:00am
  • Frightful Forty- 500 feet of climbing - 40 miles. Enjoy this Halloween ride along Kern River on our bike path, past the California Living Museum, Ethel's Coral and up rattlesnake grade (two miles of 3-4% grade) which will get your legs asking for Mercy! Start Before 9:00am.
  • Trembling Twenty- Same route as Frightful Forty. Rattlesnake grade will get your legs Screeching and a long downhill will get your lungs Gasping. Start Before 9:00am.

October FunFest

Time: 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Location: The Big Red Barn (6700 General Beale, Bakersfield)

Price: $5 - $14 online

Optimal Cares 2018 Halloween Car Show

Time: 10 AM - 2 PM

Location: Bakersfield RV Resort (5025 Wible Rd, Bakersfield)

Price: FREE

The 2018 Optimal Cares event will be a Halloween Car Show FREE ADMISSION presented by Greenlawn Funeral Homes - Cremations - Cemeteries Saturday, October 27th from 10am - 2pm at the Bakersfield RV Resort. The event is open to the public and FREE to attend. There will be food from the The Crest Bar and Grill plus vendor booths, prize drawings, music, trunk or treat for the kid, and a costume contest. Awards will be presented for Best of Show, Best Upholstery, Best Engine, Best Paint as well as multiple Sponsor picks. 

The event is open to all vehicles and motorcycles - registration fee to show is $35. 

Gossamer Grove Pumpkinfest

Time: 11 AM - 2 PM

Location: Lennar at Gossamer Grove (7th Standard Road & Calloway, Shafter)

Bring your family and friends on October 27th for our annual community PumpkinFest! 

Activities will include:

  • Miniature pumpkin decorating
  • Face painting
  • Homeowner parade contest with Lennar wagons (Any stroller or pull-able wagon acceptable!)

Harvest Festival

Join us for our Annual Harvest Festival! Come and enjoy live DJs from KAXL, 88.3 radio, carnival games, bounce house, photo booth, cake walk, and oh so much candy!! This is a FREE event; however, we will have several food trucks available for you to purchase dinner if you would like.

Fright Hike

Time: 6:15 PM - 8:15 PM

Location: Wind Wolves Preserve (16019 Maricopa Hwy, Bakersfield)

Price: FREE, however only waitlist spots available

Join us for a spooky two-hour guided night hike to Raven's Landing at Wind Wolves Preserve. The trail will be enchanted with halloween decor, and is family friendly. Our night hikes will involve stargazing or moon viewing depending on the lunar cycle.  Naturalists will discuss nighttime wonders such as nocturnal animals and sensory awareness activities.  Blacklights may be provided to discover glow in the dark critters.  This hike is 1.5 miles in length and rated easy to moderate.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show has been the ultimate movie experience for the last four decades and has thrilled, chilled, and fulfilled audiences worldwide, and it's back at the Bakersfield Fox Theater! First released in 1975, RHPS quickly became known as a cult classic for its sexual debauchery and encouraged audiences to "give yourself over to absolute pleasure."

The Rocky Horror Picture Show has made audience participation an institution, so come join the outrageous Rocky Horror experience here at The Fox Theater on October 27th with Bakersfield's very own live shadow cast: The Velvet Darkness.

Monday, October 29

Delano Trunk or Treat

This year, the Delano Police Department and the City of Delano Recreation Department is teaming up to bring the community a Trunk or Treat Celebration.

There will be candy, games, contests and prizes!

The event runs from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Cesar Chavez Park in Delano.

BPD/KCSO Trunk or Treat

KCSO is partnering with BPD and other agencies to host a free "Safe Trunk or Treat" event in East Bakersfield.

Safe Trunk or Treat will be hosted at the Kern County Sheriff's Office East Bakersfield Substation located at 1700 Flower Street. 

The event will run from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and attendees are encouraged to come dressed in costume and enjoy food, games and candy booths. Over 30 vehicles and booths will be set up. 

Bags will be provided to children so parents are advised to not bring bags from home. The event is for ages toddler to 13 years old. Due to limited space at the park, entrance will be limited to the first 1,000 trunk or treaters and their families. 

Cults & Classics - The Exorcist

Cults & Classic's will be sharing a Horror Classic on Monday night! "The Exorcist" will be shown at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6 p.m. Tickets are $5 a piece.

Tuesday, October 30

McFarland Cops & Candy

The 6th annual Cops & Candy, Trunk or Treat spooktacular event of costumes, treats and community fun will begin at 6 p.m. on October 30. 

Attendees are encouraged to come in costume and enjoy plenty of food, contests, music and games!

Safe Halloween Kern Museum

Safe Halloween at the Kern County Museum offers 50 historic exhibits to trick-or-treat in a safe environment. The event will run on October 30 and 31 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 for children 3 to 12 years old, $5 for adults and kids 13 years and older and free for children age 2 years and under that will NOT be trick or treating. For those trick or treating under the age of 2, will need to be bought a child's ticket.

Trick or treaters must use the bag provided upon entrance. Outside bags, pumpkins, basket, etc. will not be allowed into the event.

Wednesday, October 31

Track House: Trunk or Treat

The third annual FREE trunk or treating event will feature candy, prizes, food and vendors for everyone to enjoy.

The event will begin at 5 p.m. and run until 9 p.m. at Track House Bakersfield.

BPD Trick or Treat Meet N Greet

The Bakersfield Police Department will be hosting their first “Trick or Treat Meet and Greet” at police headquarters at 1601 Truxtun Avenue from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM. The event is free to attend. Children under the age of 12, in costumes, will be escorted around the police building for trick or treating from various police personnel, as well as visit police vehicles in the parking lot. Groups will be escorted every 10-15 minutes through the building. 

Parents and caregivers are welcome to come; however, for safety purposes, only children may wear costumes at this event. Children must also be 12 years of age or younger to participate. Parking is available in the City of Bakersfield’s parking garage at 18th Street and Eye Street. Parking is free for 2 hours. 

Horror-Fest at Reading

Every Wednesday, from October 3 through the 31 Reading Cinemas Valley Plaza showed a horror film as part of "Horror-Fest". Their final showing will be on Halloween night at 7 p.m. where they will be featuring the movie, "The Shining". 

Tickets are $9.
