Wild storm leaves damages in Bakersfield

Posted

The heavy rain lasted for only a few hours but it was enough to flood city streets and uproot several trees around town.

In one central Bakersfield neighborhood, a tree fell over completely blocking south Haley Street. Crews worked for hours to clean it up.

In Oildale another tree fell over into a back yard pulling a power line down with it and knocking out power. A trailer and a fence were damaged.

In downtown Bakersfield a tree was completely uprooted destroying two brick walls in its path. No injuries were reported.

The high winds left thousands without power throughout the city. Many were shocked as to how quickly the storm came in.

Despite the damage left behind many say the rain is still welcome during this drought.

Fortunately there were no reported injuries on Friday and all downed power has been restored.
