TEHACHAPI, Calif. — According to court documents, 50-year-old Wendy Howard, who is charged with murder in the shooting death of her ex-husband Kelly Pitts says she told Pitts as he was dying that he "was a child molester and he deserved to die."
The arrest report also revealed that there is an active child sex abuse case involving a family member of Howard.
Tehachapi PD says when officials arrived at Appaloosa Court on June 5, they found Howard in the driveway of her home. The report details that Howard put her phone down and her hands up before an official took her into custody following the deadly shooting.
Pitts was found stumbling at the other end of the driveway, holding himself up with one of his hands on a truck, yelling for help, according to Tehachapi police. At this time, Pitts allegedly told Howard," you shot me, you killed me."
Howard told Pitts that he is a child molester and deserved to die, according to her statement documented in the arrest report.
Tehachapi Police said Pitts had a lot of blood on him and appeared to have been shot at least twice. One time in the center of upper chest and another in the center of his neck. Officials also noted that Pitts had what appeared to be a bullet graze to his cheek. Pitts was taken to Kern Medical where he was pronounced dead.
Officials confirm that there is a separate, active child sex abuse case being investigated by the Tehachapi Police Department. The alleged victim, a family member, was reportedly abused over an extended period of time. Officials omitted the suspect's identity in the report.
