Kern County Sheriff's Office released the following statement:

On Thursday, August 27 at approximately 12:43 pm deputies responded to the report of a stabbing in the 300-block of General Petroleum Ave in South Taft.

Upon their arrival, deputies saw a 43-year old male South Taft resident holding his chest with his hand.  The male subject had a one inch diameter stab wound to his right, upper chest.

Deputies were able to identify the male's 22-year old girlfriend, Crystal McNeil of South Taft, as the person who stabbed the male.

During their investigation deputies learned that the male had entered McNeil's residence and found McNeil with another male.

The male victim and McNeil began arguing.

During the argument, McNeil grabbed a large knife from the kitchen and stabbed the male in the chest.

Deputies arrested McNeil and transported her to the Central Receiving Facility Jail where she was booked for assault with a deadly weapon.

The victim received medical aid on the scene but refused to be transported to a hospital.
