Officials with the Kern County Sheriff's Office released the following statement:

On 9/25/15 at approximately 6:00 p.m., Kern County Sheriff’s Reserve Deputy Sheriff Brent Burton and Reserve Deputy Sheriff Mario Cervantes were patrolling the Kern County Fairgrounds. 

Deputy Burton was flagged down by an individual who reported there was an elderly female nearby, in medical distress. 

Deputy Burton and Deputy Cervantes located the female and determined she was not breathing and did not have a pulse. 

Deputy Burton immediately began CPR and requested medical aid respond. 

After a series of chest compressions the female began to breath and after several minutes became more alert.
