A 60-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene Thursday night in East Bakersfield.

Officers responded to the scene at the 1700 block of Flower Street a little before 9 p.m. The female victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

A while later a 16-year-old boy returned to the scene and admitted to being the driver of the vehicle involved in the accident. He was detained at the scene.
