Woman "Just Dances" into Guinness World Records

Posted

Carrie Swidecki currently holds the Guinness World Record for longest marathon on a dance video game. She played Just Dance for 138 hours in 2015, breaking her previous record of 15 hours.

As an elementary school teacher, her goal is to teach students there can be a bridge between video games and exercise. She has her fourth graders do Just Dance for half an hour every day as their P.E.

In the new 2019 Guinness World Record book, her record was moved from the video game section to the endurance section.

"I've always dreamed of crossing that category and people seeing video games as fitness, there are athletes," said Swidecki.

She is also about to become the second woman to be inducted in the International Video Game Hall of Fame and hopes this step will inspire young girls to break into the gaming world.
