A woman is dead after she was hit by a car in east Bakersfield Monday night.

She was crossing the road outside of a crosswalk around 6:20 p.m. when a vehicle traveling eastbound on Flower Street at approximately 30 to 40 mph hit her near the intersection of Gage Street, the CHP said.

She was transported to Kern Medical where she passed away due to her injuries. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Tomas Raul Mireles, 74.
