Woman shot in Lamont transported to hospital, Amber Alert deactivated for her son

LAMONT, Calif. — UPDATE (12:10 a.m. Monday): The California Highway Patrol is reporting that Elias Vidal has been located. The Amber Alert has been deactivated.

UPDATE (11:40 p.m. Sunday): California Highway Patrol has issued an Amber Alert for 2-year-old Elias Vidal. According to KCSO, his mother was shot earlier tonight.

He is believed to have been with his father 36-year-old, Javier Vidal. Elias was last seen with his Father on April 12, 2020 around 8:30 pm in Lamont, Kern County. According to CHP Javier Vidal is believed to be armed and dangerous.

He was last seen in 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse Gray vehicle, CA license plate 4YDA136.

Javier Vidal is 5’11, weighs 150 pounds, brown eyes, bald, wearing a white t-shirt and black jeans.

Elias Vidal is 3’0, weighs 50 pounds, blue eyes, brown hair and is wearing a blue t-shirt and blue jeans.

A woman was shot in Lamont Sunday evening and was rushed to a local hospital, according to the Kern County Sheriff's Office.

According to a KCSO press release, the shooting occurred at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday. The severity of the woman's injuries were not listed in the release.

Deputies responded to the 7800 block of Florence Street and located the woman suffering from a gunshot wound. There is no suspect information at this time.
