Two people are dead after a head-on crash on Interstate 5 early Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
In a press release CHP stated they responded to a two-car crash on the Northbound I-5 near Lerdo Highway just after 12:30 a.m. A driver was reportedly heading Southbound in those Northbound lanes before they collided head-on with another car. The Kern County Coroner was called to the scene.
Officers said a 41-year-old woman from Bakersfield drove her 2017 Hyundai the wrong way on I-5, when she collided with a 20-year-old man from Torrance, California. Officers said both had fatal injuries from the crash.
At this time first responders have not released the names of those involved in the crash.
