All those straps and belts can become confusing. Knowing that parents are doing this for the safety of their child puts the stakes even higher to get it right.

This Saturday, September 24, there will be a free event put on by the California Highway Patrol, Bakersfield Police Department, and Kern County Public Health.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Target parking lot located at 3401 Mall View Road.

Parents will be able to ask questions about whether or not they have installed their child's car seat correctly.

It is crucial to be 100 percent certain that children's car seats are properly installed. According to the Bakersfield Police Department, more than 80 percent of car seats are not put in place correctly.

Parents are encouraged to bring their children to this event along with their car seat and have it inspected by specially-trained child safety seat technicians.
