13 injured in Alaska after motor home rear-ends tour bus

Posted
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Thirteen people were hospitalized after a motor home rear-ended a tour bus in a remote part of Alaska.

The accident happened late Sunday morning along the Richardson Highway, near the community of Copper Center.

Alaska State Troopers reported the accident Monday, but they didn't have many details.

A motor home with four people on board was driven by 47-year-old Jesse Johnson of Anchorage. It struck the bus with 32 people on board as it was trying to turn into the Copper River Princess Wilderness Lodge.

Little information about the injured was available Monday. They were taken to medical facilities in Glennallen, Wasilla and Anchorage.

The bus was from North Pole Tour. Troopers spokesman Tim DeSpain said the bus had Korean writing on the side, the same language on the company's website. A man who answered the phone at the tour company declined comment and said the owner was not available.
