A group of 26 puppies is safe at a New Jersey animal shelter after they were found inside a hot van over the weekend.

According to News 12 New Jersey, the dogs were found in the back of a hot van parked outside Walmart in Garfield, New Jersey.

Police were reportedly tipped off to the dangerous situation because someone told them a person had been selling animals out of the back of the vehicle.

The puppies were found packed into two crates inside the van. It was unclear how long they'd been inside the hot vehicle.

The dogs, which were apparently various breeds of bulldog, were taken in by the Bergen County Animal Shelter, where they will be cared for until they're healthy enough to be adopted.

According to the shelter, the puppies haven't been vaccinated and will have to be in isolation for at least 3 weeks.
