SAN DIEGO — An unexpected guest made itself at home in a California resident’s house.
San Diego Humane Society officials said they were called to an Ocean Beach home after a resident “reported a critter had gotten into her house” on Monday.
According to Humane Society officials, the resident’s dog was playing with “an unknown animal” outside, but the animal ran into the house.
The resident left a door open in hopes the animal would run outside overnight.
However, on Tuesday, the resident discovered the animal — later identified as a fox — lying on a bathroom counter.
Humane Society officials said an officer was sent to the house to capture the fox. After determining it was healthy, the fox was released into the wild.
According to officials, Humane Society officers “have only had about three calls about foxes in their history, so this was a very unique case!”
