BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield City School District has announced that it will temporarily close all of its schools beginning Wednesday, as a coronavirus precaution.

The closures will remain in place until "further notice," according to the district.

"The health and safety of our students and staff is our top priority," a release by BCSD Superintendent Doc Ervin states.

Students under the age of 18 will be provided meals upon request.

The release was sent to parents, guardians and staff.
