WASHINGTON (AP) — Congress wants its voice back.

Lawmakers long for what's being lost.

They want the ability to publicly question officials at committee hearings and to chat across the aisle.

They want to speak from the House and Senate floor for all Americans, and for history, to hear.

As President Donald Trump convenes press briefings at the White House, a shuttered Congress wants its voice back.

With no real plan to reopen Capitol Hill any time soon, leaders are considering the 21st century option of remote legislating.

A task force reviewing options has met for the first time.

One priority is for stay-home lawmakers to hold committee hearings.

Voting from home may be next.
