The long lines of people trying to get into Costco has been well documented in recent weeks.

Hundreds lining up outside and sometimes down the block have become a small part of the coronavirus story. Residents looking to stock up on supplies have shown up in droves.

Now Costco is looking to limit the number of people who are showing up.

On Wednesday, Costco announced that it will now limit the number of people who can enter on a single membership.

On their website, Costco said, "Effective Friday, April 3, Costco will allow no more than two people to enter the warehouse with each membership card. This temporary change is for your safety and the safety of our employees and other members, and to further assist with our social distancing efforts. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding."

The retail giant has already implemented other precautions, including limiting the number of items customers can buy and offering special senior hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
