Cricket Wireless service fixed after long wait

Posted

Customers of Cricket Wireless woke up Saturday morning with their service restored following a lengthy outage that affected customers from coast to coast Friday night.

"Service has been fully restored for Cricket customers," company spokesperson Gretchen Schultz said in a statement. "Technicians worked around the clock to resolve the issue and service is currently running normally. We apologize for this inconvenience."

Even though Cricket's service has been fixed, some customers are still upset.

The outage began around 5 p.m. Eastern Friday, and was not fixed until early Saturday morning. For some, having a night without cell phone service meant lost income.

"This loss of service yesterday for 15 hours cost me $500 in lost business," Robert McDonald Jr. of Mesa, Ariz. tweeted. "A $5 credit for my account is unacceptable."

Others were inconvenienced by the outage.

"Was stranded for hours because i couldn't call my ride or get an Uber or access my GPS cause of a random outage," Aaron Cook said.

Cricket is a low-cost cell phone service offered in hundreds of cities and covers 97 percent of America. It uses AT&T networks to provide service. Despite using AT&T service, customers with AT&T were unaffected by Cricket's glitch.

No cause for the more than 12-hour outage has been announced by Cricket.
