Clinton says IG report won't affect bid

Posted

WASHINGTON (AP) — Hillary Clinton says a new government audit critical of her use of a private email server as secretary of state won't affect her Democratic presidential campaign.

In an interview with Univision's Los Angeles affiliate, Clinton says "nothing has changed" following Wednesday's release of 78-page report by the State Department's Inspector General. That analysis found Clinton ignored clear guidance that her email setup broke agency rules and could have left government secrets vulnerable to hackers.

Clinton says she used personal email "just like" previous agency secretaries and that she has "turned over all her emails."

The audit found that of Clinton's predecessors, only Colin Powell exclusively used private email as she did, though he didn't rely on a home server. Clinton has also withheld thousands of emails she deemed personal.
