Tennessee hunter bags 47-point buck

and last updated

A Gallatin, Tenn. hunter bagged what could be a record-breaking hunt with a 47-point buck on election day.

According to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, 26-year-old Stephen Tucker killed the white-tailed deer while muzzle loader hunting in Sumner County.

The deer's set of antlers had 47 points and were more than 300 inches long - 312 2/8ths inches to be exact.

The current world record, out of Iowa, is a at 307 5/8ths inches. Even if the measurements from Tucker's buck are accurate, there is a chance that a required 60-day drying period for the antlers could shrink that length below world record status.
