Houston TV station flooded, evacuated in midst of Harvey

While in the midst of breaking news coverage of devastating Tropical Storm Harvey,  KHOU-TV had to evacuate late Sunday morning as flood waters rushed into the station's studios. 

The flood comes as Houston continues to be drenched by Harvey's outer bands. According to the National Weather Service, Houston has seen 20 inches of rain fall there since Friday, with more rain to come in the next few days. 

While KHOU-TV evacuated its staff, WFAA-TV in Dallas pitched in to help provide information.

"We are transitioning to safer ground to keep our employees free from danger," KHOU President and General Manager Susan McEldoon said. "That's why we look a little different. Much like so many of your homes, our station is flooded. We are continuing to keep the people of Houston informed and safe during this catastrophic storm. We will get through this together, Houston.

Meanwhile, KHOU-TV's Facebook page has been flooded with viewers requesting assistance as citizens are reporting that their homes are flooded.
