Bakersfield's Dillon James will have to wait, for now, for another shot at performing on a national stage.
On Wednesday morning, Live with Kelly & Ryan announced "American Idol" contestant Julia Gargano won a chance to perform on the show's "American Idol Encore".
On Monday morning, a national contest was held to allow one of the Top 7 finalists, excluding the Top 2, an opportunity to perform on Kelly & Ryan.
James, who finished in the Top 5, was one of the contestants fans could vote for.

Ultimately, it was Gargano, who didn't make it to the Top 5, who won that chance.
The "American Idol Encore" show will air Thursday on 23ABC.
