A Florida man was sentenced to five years in prison Wednesday after his wife died in a crash while the couple was having sex and he was driving while intoxicated.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said Matthew Notebaert and his wife had just left a country music concert on the night of March 9, 2014. The pair was having sex when Notebaert drove into a canal.  

The crash left his wife, Amanda Notebaert, dead and Matthew Notebaert severely injured. At the hospital, deputies confirmed he was drunk.

In a police report, authorities said Matthew Notebaert admitted to being naked and that Amanda Notebaert was sitting on his lap when he drove off the end of the road and struck the opposite canal.

After his five-year sentence, Notebaert will be on probation for five years.
