Man arrested for selling heroin in Pennsylvania maternity ward while visiting newborn child

Posted

A Pennsylvania man was arrested last week after police say he admitted to selling heroin at a hospital while he was visiting his newborn child.

According to the Associated Press, police in Greensburg, Pennsylvania were tipped off after finding heroin and drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop last week. Those in the car said they purchased the drugs at the maternity ward of the Excela Westmoreland Hospital from a man named Cody.

When officers arrived at the hospital they found 25-year-old Cody Hulse, who was in the maternity ward with the mother of his newborn child. Hulse was found to be in possession of 34 bags of suspected heroin and "various items of selling heroin."

Hulse admitted to police that he was selling heroin and was arrested on charges of possession of heroin, possession and delivery of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and endangering the welfare of children — just hours after the birth of his child. The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that bail has been set at $100,000.

The mother of Hulse's child maintains that she did not know he was selling heroin.
