Oakland A's catcher, Bruce Maxwell, is in police custody after being arrested at his Scottsdale home Saturday night.

Police said they were called to Maxwell's home after a female food delivery worker told them he pointed a gun at her.

Maxwell was booked on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Scottsdale police said he was still in custody as of Sunday morning, awaiting his initial court appearance in front of a judge.

Maxwell made headlines last month for becoming the first Major League Baseball player to kneel for the national anthem; following the movement started by San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick in response to police treatment of African Americans.

Then, just last week, Maxwell told TMZ that he was denied service at an Alabama restaurant with a city council member due to his protest

The restaurant owners have done interviews with multiple news outlets in the area, and has adamantly denied that claim.

The MLB catcher plays Spring Training games at Mesa's Hohokam stadium.
