An employee from the popular party supply chain Party City is under investigation by her company as she allegedly refused to serve a customer purchasing for balloons for the memorial for a fallen police officer.

Karly Lane said in a Facebook post on Saturday that she visited the Pittsburgh-area Party City to purchase balloons for a memorial service for Duquesne officer Robert GoGo Jr., who died in September. Lane said she was close friends with GoGo.

"I tell the young girl I need a dozen blue and black balloons and she goes on to ask what they were for very nicely and I explain we had lost a very good friend and police officer one month ago and we were setting them free," Lane said. "She then changed her attitude and told me she needed to get someone else to wait on me because she refused to support a police office."

A store representative told WPXI-TV in Pittsburgh the incident was being investigated.

"Party City is committed to our customers and the community. Corporate management is looking into the matter to uncover what transpired and will take action accordingly," the statement read.

According to WPXI, GoGo died in a motorcycle accident in Dravosburg, Pennsylvania last month when he struck a sedan. GoGo was 40 years old.
