Sabra recalls hummus due to Listeria concerns

Posted

Sabra announced on Sunday that it is issuing a voluntary recall on a number of its hummus products due to Listeria contamination concerns.

The recalled products were sold at retailers throughout the United States and Canada.

Consumers with any Sabra hummus product with a "Best Before" date up through January 23, 2017 are urged to discard it. Consumers can visit this website in order to get a refund.

While Listeria has not been tested in Sabra products, parts of Sabra's hummus assembly line tested positive for Listeria.

According to the CDC, "Listeria monocytogenes is an organism, which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea."

Sabra's other products, such as guacamole, salsa and yogurt, are not affected by the recall.
