Southwest Airlines announced on Wednesday that the airline plans to sell tickets for flights to Hawaii in 2018.
Specific flight routes have not been released just yet, but Southwest mentioned online that customers can expect service from California to Hawaii.
The airline plans to fly the new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, which has increased levels of efficiency and range compared to the other Boeing models that have been in the Southwest fleet.

"Hawaii is an important place for Southwest Airlines because so many people count on us to take them everywhere they want to go reliably and affordably. We're ready and excited to address a request we've heard for years,” Southwest CEO Gary Kelly told employees on Wednesday.
