A sergeant with the Bakersfield Police Department says a BPD officer was attempting to enter traffic southbound on Cottonwood Road when another car already on Cottonwood collided with the patrol car.

The driver of the black car was taken to the hospital for complaints of pain.

The officer is said to have minor injuries and is expected to be OK.
