CHP has issued an Amber Alert on behalf of the Bakersfield Police Department for two children who were taken by their father.

According to the BPD, 31-year-old Michael Aguirre and the victim were involved in a domestic assault incident in Bakersfield on Monday, April 22, at a hotel in the 3600 block of Wible Road. BPD says the victim and their children were taken by Aguirre in a vehicle from the hotel to various locations in town before traveling to Valencia.

BPD says Aguirre, the victim, and the children stayed in Valencia that evening before heading for the Santa Monica area on April 23.

During their travels, BPD says Aguirre and the victim began to argue further. BPD says Aguirre stopped the vehicle in the area of Glen Alla Park in Marina Del Ray and fled with the children on foot, leaving behind the victim and the vehicle.

BPD says the victim then returned to Bakersfield and reported the incident to police.

The children are described as:

Miliana Aguirre is 8-years-old, 3 feet 6 inches tall, 48 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a pink hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and orange shoes.

Daniel Aguirre is 4-years-old, 3 feet tall, 42 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a gray “Hot Wheels” t-shirt, khaki shorts, and blue Nike shoes.

BPD says there is an active warrant against Michael Aguirre for domestic assault, criminal threats, false imprisonment, and kidnapping. Aguirre is also a known gang member.

BPD says Aguirre is considered armed and dangerous.
