Restaurants in California will no longer be able to automatically provide plastic straws with their drinks.
Governor Jerry Brown signed AB 1884, which bans restaurants from automatically giving customers plastic straws. Customers will still be able to request plastic straws for their drinks.
California has become the first state to ban restaurants from giving out plastic straws.
Thank you @JerryBrownGov for signing #AB1884 #StrawsUponRequest. Your signing message was spot on and I encourage everyone to read it. This is a huge win for helping reduce the prevalence of single-use plastics in our environment! pic.twitter.com/JQ3jxPuguR
