Legislative leaders and staff from Governor Gavin Newsome's office have agreed to place a $15 billion construction bond before voters in March next year.

Assembly Bill 48 allocates the money to go towards preschool -- K through 12 -- and higher education construction. The bill will put in place a system that will push small districts needing financial help and low-income, low-property wealth districts farther ahead in the line for state dollars.

It also gives priority to districts and facilities in need of improvement including removing lead in water.
