MOJAVE, Calif. — Officers are sworn to protect and serve. And on often times they will go above and beyond. The California Highway Patrol's Mojave Office posted two stories on Facebook.

First, over in Bridgeport Officer Chavez was notified that a child had lost their teddy bear somewhere along the 3-95. The child was distraught but Officer Chavez jumped into action. He was able to find the teddy bear on the road and mailed it to the child reuniting the two.

And more good deeds by the CHP, this time in Barstow. According to the Mojave CHP, Officer Hernandez came across an unoccupied vehicle on the 15. When he got up to the vehicle he found a dog that was left inside. Officer Hernandez was able to get the car open and free the dog from the hot car. The dog is doing OK and the CHP is now looking for the owner of the vehicle and the dog.
