A mother of four working as a street vendor was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in San Bernardino. According to police, she was hit intentionally and that incident is being investigated as an assault.

San Bernardino officers responded to reports of a food vendor being struck by a vehicle and found the victim with "significant trauma." Marlen Benitez Munoz was taken to a hospital where she remains in critical condition.

Police have arrested a suspect, 42-year-old Robert Spargo. He has been booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

Family members believe the incident could have been racially motivated.
