(KERO) — The deadline to apply for health insurance through Covered California is this Friday for your coverage to start on Jan. 1st.

There's still time to apply for Covered California since the deadline for coverage for next year is through Jan. 31st with coverage beginning in February.

People can still apply after that date if they have a qualifying life event which includes being impacted by the current declared Public Health Emergency for COVID-19.

According to Covered California, an estimated 1.1 million Californians are eligible for financial help from either Covered California or Medi-Cal and most of those people could get health insurance at no cost.
