SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Thursday, Gov. Newsom's office told the legislature deploying the National Guard in response to the protests of George Floyd's unlawful death, cost the state of California nearly $25 million.
The national guard was deployed to Los Angeles, $18 million; and other cities, $6.5 million
The largest deployment of National Guard troops was associated with protests in Las Angeles County on May 30.
Of the 8,000 troops activated statewide, 5,500 were sent to Los Angeles County, Newsom's office says.
