SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KERO) — People at risk of getting evicted due to the pandemic now have a little more protection. Monday Governor Gavin Newsom issued an extension for the eviction moratorium.
The eviction moratorium was set to end at the start of the new year but will now last until at least June 30th.
It was put into place at the start of the pandemic when the state slipped into a financial crisis.
Governor Newsom on Monday added that the state is trying to distribute California's share of the latest federal stimulus bill. That would ensure up to $2.6 billion in renter aid for Californians.
