The man police believe is the Golden State Killer won't go on trial until next year.
Police say DNA evidence links Joseph DeAngelo to at least 13 murders and more than 50 rapes across California in the 1970s and '80s. He was in court for less than 10 minutes on Thursday.
His lawyers asked for more time to prepare their defense and the judge agreed.
DeAngelo will be back in court in late January.
