BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — California Independent System Operator Corporation (ISO) says, for the second straight day, rolling outages were avoided as Californians were encouraged to conserve power.
CA ISO declared a stage 2 emergency around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, which meant rolling outages were imminent. The agency said the most critical time of the day was at about 6 p.m.
The agency is asking residents to continue reducing electricity use from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Labor Day in order to protect the stability of the power grid.
