A jewelry store owner was hit by a sledgehammer during a robbery in Santa Monica and it was caught on video. You can see the shop owner tending to his inventory at a store ironically named Heist when the incident happened.

A masked-suspect entered swiftly and with a sledgehammer, smashed a display case. The owner's actions screamed "not today" as he intervenes, pushing the suspect outside.

Unaware to the owner a second masked suspect appears and strikes him with his own sledgehammer. After a short struggle, the suspects leave empty-handed.

The owner says he got some help from a customer.

"They were caught because a guy outside in the Tesla, who is a customer of ours, saw them running up the street so he followed them, followed their car and was on the phone with the police the entire time."

The trio was eventually tracked down by officers and arrested.

There was a fourth suspect who police say missed the getaway car and was eventually arrested.
