LOS ANGELES — Coronavirus continues to surge across California. Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti said his city reopened too quickly warning residents that LA may be "on the brink" of new shutdown orders.

Garcetti appeared on network television and was asked about his thoughts on the rapid reopening of the state which was followed by a spike new COVID-19 cases. He said those decisions were made at the state and county levels.

Garcetti added that LA officials would not hesitate to implement new stay-at-home order if the numbers don't turn around.

The state reported Saturday its fourth-highest daily total of new confirmed cases.
