Mayors in Orange County are asking Governor Gavin Newsom to issue guidelines to safely reopen theme parks.

The mayors of Anaheim, Buena Park, and Garden Grove met this week inviting the governor to Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm to judge for himself if the parks are ready to open.

The city of Anaheim has been struggling with a 15 percent unemployment rate since Disneyland closed in March.

Last week Orange County was upgraded from the purple tier to the red tier in California's coronavirus monitoring system allowing churches, theaters, and other businesses to reopen indoors.
