The California Highway Patrol is reminding teen drivers to pay attention behind the wheel. Next week is National Teen Driver Safety Week.

According to the CHP, car crashes are the leading cause of death for teens in the United States. Over 250 people in California were killed last year in crashes involving drivers aged 15 to 19.

Officers want you to remind your teen to avoid distractions such as cell phones when driving. Also remind them to buckle up.

National Teen Driver Safety Week begins Sunday and runs through October 24th.
