There are currently nearly 11,000 residents in the state of California who have COVID-19, Governor Gavin Newsom announced Friday.

During his daily coronavirus press briefing, Newsom announced that there are 10,710 positive cases of COVID-19 in the state. Of those, 2,188 are in hospitals with 901 in the intensive care unit.

"We must continue to take this seriously," Newsom said.
